"Transfiguration" is the title of the hand-woven
contemplative tapestry donated to the library in memory of Dorothy Bradley
Rankin by her daughter, the Rev. Canon Elizabeth Rankin Geitz of Summit, New
Jersey. Created by Martha Christian of Nashville, Tennessee, the five-foot
by seven-foot tapestry was woven from a variety of materials, including
linen, wool, mohair, and goat hair, some hand spun and hand dyed. These were
threads commonly used in Palestine during the time of Jesus.

The general purpose
established for the library is to serve the interests of the church and aid
members in their personal growth in Christian faith; to provide training
helps for teachers and leaders; and to provide resources for the studying of
current issues in theology and society. The aim is to make the library more
than a collection of books -- it is to be a center for information,
inspiration and sharing.
The library is located off the Johnson Gallery, just
inside the Commerce Street entrance.
