Rev. Jared Wilson, Director
Awards and Honors
The Madison Street Music & Arts Academy was the recipient of the 2016 Community Service Award from the Acuff Circle of Excellence – Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts at Austin Peay State University.
The Academy’s unique role as a Parish-based Community School attracted national attention when Yale University invited Academy Director, Rev. Jared Wilson, to present on the work and mission of the Academy through Yale University’s Institute for Sacred Music.
As one of only three programs in the country chosen to present at Yale, Rev. Wilson has since partnered with the university in offering workshops on Parish-based Music Schools throughout the United States.
PRIVATE AND GROUP INSTRUCTION
The art of musical performance of an instrument or voice is presented to students via group and individual (private) instruction. From the necessary basics to the application of more advanced aspects of music making, students receive the foundations needed for musical expression. Further study of performance practices is available through participation in The Academy’s Orchestra and Ensemble Programs.
ORCHESTRA AND ENSEMBLE PROGRAMS
Instrumentalists develop ensemble skills by performing in The Academy’s brass, orchestral, and chamber music ensembles. Designed for varying ages and levels of musical expertise, these groups are open by audition and teacher placement.

Students are invited to further their musical understanding through classroom study. Classes include interactive Music Theory and Musicianship courses that progress from elementary to advanced theory and composition; Music History courses that explore music’s historical, cultural and social development; Kodaly classes for young musicians who want to learn the basics of music reading before beginning to study an instrument.
The Academy is pleased to offer a maestro-level Kindermusik program for children from birth through age 7 under the direction of Dr. Abby Haake.
Sorry, we are no longer accepting applications for the 2017-18 instruction year.
The Madison Street Music & Arts Academy is strongly committed to offering subsidized rates to families whose children might otherwise not be able to experience our award-winning music and arts program. Reduced-Rate Tuition of 80% is available for private instruction on a limited basis for students who meet certain income eligibility requirements.
Please note, due to our limited funding for this program, awards are given on a first-come, first-serve basis, and only apply to tuition for 30-minute private lessons.
